POSITION SUMMARY:

The Privacy Specialist assists the Corporate Compliance Officer (CCO) in oversight of all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, patient health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the organization’s information privacy practices.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s (B.A., B.S.) degree required; Master’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Informatics and/or related Post-baccalaureate program is highly desirable.

  • Specialized Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of and experience in information privacy laws, access, release of information, and release control technologies. Knowledge of, and the ability to, apply the principles of Health Information Management (HIM), project management, and change management.

  • Three (3)+ years working in healthcare privacy, compliance and/or security environment, or related field.

  • Certification as (or eligible for) RHIA, RHIT, CHP - Certified HIPAA Professional.

  • Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings. Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.
