Virginia State Government Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (part-time) in Fairfax, Virginia
NVMHI is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric evaluation, assessment and treatment to a diverse and complex patient population. Nurse practitioners at NVMHI are highly autonomous, and are valued members of the Medial Staff.
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis for newly admitted patients, and initiate medication treatment as indicated. Other responsibilities may include assuming treatment team leadership and providing ongoing patient care when there is a need, and if interested, extensive opportunities to teach and supervise students. NVMHI has a great working environment; the staff culture is friendly and energetic, and the work is very clinically stimulating, resulting in ongoing professional development.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, flexibility in managing a dynamic work environment, and a desire for learning and growth.

Masters prepared graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required.
Eligibility for or licensure in Virginia as a Registered Nurse, as a Nurse Practitioner, and possession of a license with the authorization to prescribe is required.
Experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner strongly preferred.
Board Certification as an Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through ANCC preferred.
