Children's Home and Aid Cook – Residential Center (Tuesday-Saturday) in Evanston, Illinois
At Children’s Home & Aid, we believe that nourishing our children with healthy and wholesome meals is essential. The Residential Center provides a temporary home for more than 40 children with severe emotional and behavioral challenges.
We are searching for a skilled Cook who is creative, highly energetic and has a passion for all things culinary. You will be serving inspired and appealing meals and snacks to children and staff. The Cook supports this 24/7 facility by working 10am-6pm Tuesday through Friday, and 9am-5pm on Saturdays.
Cook Responsibilities include:
Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (marinating, meat fabricating, baking, par cooking, chopping and peeling fresh vegetables, etc.).
Prepare and serve meals and snacks according to daily menu.
Collaborate with supervisor to create and post daily menus.
Monitor stock and make sure all inventory is stored properly.
Maintain sanitation requirements of the kitchen and storage areas.
Maintain appropriate records as required for funders, licensing, and other requirements.
High School diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of relevant cooking experience.
Current city and state Food service Sanitation Certificate.
Verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with various age groups.
Planning, organizing and implementing skills.
Ability to think and work independently while accepting increased levels of responsibility.
Knowledge of the nutritional needs of children and adults preferred.
