This role is responsible for minor PLC, HMI programming and electronic drive control system changes on existing Printing, Packaging and auxiliary equipment to enhance productivity. Work with Engineering and Maintenance teams on new equipment control design, specifications, installation, debugging troubleshooting and training.


  • Analyzes and improves existing PLC programs, AC & DC drive controls and electronic devices to enhance functionality and is an active resource for continuous improvement.

  • Assists with the justification, specification, procurement and installation of new equipment. Requires close work and planning with maintenance, operations and outside contractors as needed.

  • Works closely with maintenance technicians providing PLC and electrical controls troubleshooting support and training.

  • Maintains up to date electrical schematics for our manufacturing equipment.

  • Possesses experience with maintaining a SCADA system using FactoryTalk SE.

  • Resource for identifying, specifying and programming camera inspection and scanning equipment.

  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and electrical drawing releases.

  • Prepares interim and completion project reports and time lines.

  • Must value working safely and follow all site specific safety practices and procedures.

  • Other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.



Minimum 2 years’ experience troubleshooting and developing PLC programs, printing and / or packaging background preferable.

Must be flexible to work weekends as may be required

Must be a detail oriented individual

Must possess a high degree of “people” skills Computer competence including a variety of software programs


Associates in Electrical Engineering preferred, but other related engineering degree may be acceptable with significant electrical / electronic experience or 5 years of applicable work experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably high-speed) troubleshooting and developing PLC programs


English is sufficient. Must be able to communicate with engineers, business managers and equipment operators


Adequate to determine, evaluate, and communicate results and improvements. Must be able to reason sufficiently for decision-making from an independent basis


Excel, Word, Microsoft Project, Auto-Cad, Rockwell Automation\Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000 and RSLogix 500, FactoryTalk ME, FactoryTalk SE, Siemens Step 7


Must be able to maneuver throughout the manufacturing facility. May climb steps, crunch under machines to investigate their operation, and like similar situations.
