The Operations & Applications Training Specialist, participates in the development and deployment of training programs, training materials and Web based presentations to Global Service and Training (GST) staff and customers for the products distributed by Grifols Diagnostic Solutions. This person will be responsible for communicating technical information to an audience with a broad range of expertise.
Primary responsibilities for role:
Compliance - Adhere to procedures and protocols outlined by the Grifols GST organization and Grifols Diagnostic Solutions (GDS).
Training – Perform the following to supporting regional GST training requests:
Obtain technical trainer certification for operation instruments, assays/reagents & applications supported by GST.
Deliver technical training in a Training Center or in the field at a customer site
Prepare instruments, training labs and materials needed for scheduled training. This includes but is not limited to performing maintenance activities, relocating instruments, obtaining Instructions for Use and supporting documentation, ensuring required reagents and samples are available, and training facilities are clean and organized.
Participate in product overview training and demos for New Hire orientation, customer VIP visits and other GDS staff.
Assess the competency of trainees, issue training certificates, maintain training records and work with GST managers to develop training remediation plans as needed.
Maintain technical expertise on operation instruments and applications. This includes awareness and understanding of Instructions for Use, applicable regulations, manufacturer changes and support documentation.
Participate in the development and deployment of training programs for new product introductions. This includes working with instrument manufacturer’s and GST subject matter experts to obtain knowledge transfer.
Implement improvements to training materials based on manufacturer and trainee feedback.
Assist in harmonizing training materials and processes with GST regional training personnel.
Projects - Communicate integrally with GST and Marketing Product Managers regarding product performance, participation in development teams and process development and improvements.
Key Performance Indicators / Measures for Success:
Internal Training and corporate training will be completed on time 98% of the time
Target dates for new/revised GST training material deliverables are met – measure % of time deliverables are appropriately identified and completed per assigned dates (for constraints within GST control)
Assure the quality/technical accuracy of training material and procedures - measure % of documents that require revisions/amendments to correct errors.
Documentation of training or service activity within 24 hours of occurrence in CRM; activities resolved and within 3 days of completion of work; records closed within 7 days of completion of work.
Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to: May perform other duties as assigned by the Manager. SOP creation/ modification. Identify and make recommendations for improvements to products, functions, and processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in the development and deployment of technical training programs.
Demonstrated expertise in supporting and servicing highly complex instrumentation.
Self-motivated and self-directed, with excellent organizational and record keeping skills.
Knowledge of GMP, ISO and other certifying agency policies and regulations.
Proficient with Microsoft applications.
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills,: the ability to communicate technical information effectively.

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, Chemistry, Immunohematology, Immunology Medical Technology or related Scientific Discipline. Otherwise, please see Equivalency requirements for additional experience required.
If candidate has a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 2 years experience in developing and delivering technical training in a regulated environment. Blood Banking, medical technology or technical service experience preferred.
Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of stated requirements. Example: Masters degree with a minimum of 1 year experience; Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years experience; equivalent Military education or Associate’s degree with a minimum of 3 years experience.
This individual provides training on instrument and application operation for commercial support of distributed products to ensure internal/external customer satisfaction.
Position will be based in the GST Emeryville Training Center with up to 25% travel required. Work hours conform to a standard 40 hour work week. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs as an essential function of the role (lifting of equipment /components for maintenance and relocation.
