Raytheon Software Engineer II in El Segundo, California

The Raytheon Digital System Integration Laboratory (DSIL) is seeking a software engineer to improve existing DSIL software and create new tools for our software suite. DSIL is a Software Product Line comprised of various applications used throughout Raytheon to support various programs. DSIL’s mission is to help Raytheon produce high quality products by providing a simulation, test, and analysis environment. Successful candidates will be an integral part of the DSIL software team, and will be involved in development, integration, test and user support. The candidate shall be able to contribute to the entire software life cycle of Requirements, Design, Code, Unit Test, Integration and System Test. The candidate shall also be able to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practical and consistent with organization objectives. They shall be able to work under only general direction and independently determine and develop approaches to solutions. The job requires a well-disciplined engineer who is able to thrive in a dynamic environment and is able to work well in a team. Position requires US Citizenship as candidate will be required to have a US Security Clearance day one of employment Job Responsibilities: Maintain DSIL tools for performance, stability, and error-free operation Identify and resolve pipeline issues and discover opportunities for improvement Support generation of documentation to include: software design artifacts, requirements documentation and problem reports Required Skills: Fluency in multiple programming languages including C/C++ and Java Cross platform software development experience Familiar with basic network protocols (TCP/UDP) Experience with automated testing methodologies Able to drive and support creation of technical documentation Firm grasp of parallel programming development Great communications skills Passionate about “Learn and Grow” and mentoring others Commitment to quality and sustainability Active DoD Secret clearance U.S. Citizenship Ability to access to US only data systems Desired Skills: Working knowledge of Agile methodology Experience working with legacy code Proactive leadership skills – proven ability to recognize issues early and to lead and motivate teams by making smaller, decisive corrections to avoid larger problems.
