Asa Host/Hostessyou'll greetand seatguests. Answer phones and takes reservations. Assists in resetting tables and overall service to guests. Responsible for maintaining table rotation amongst waitstaff.
• Escort guests to tables and assist in seating at tables; present menus and extend congeniality’s in accordance to department guidelines • Greet and acknowledge all arriving and departing guests, however busy and whatever time of day • Take record and confirm restaurant reservations/cancellations as specified in departmental standards • Inspect condition and cleanliness of menus; ensure designated amounts are available • Maintain complete knowledge of: ○ Scheduled daily private functions ○ Restaurant and book store extension numbers ○ Hours of operation, ambiance, menu selections and price range ○ Menu items, features, 86’d items, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the Café ○ Wine and beer list ○ Table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, and dress code of the Café • Inspect the environment and entrance area, ensuring that all standards are met; rectify any deficiencies; maintain cleanliness at all times • Check and verify restrooms are in excellent working conditions, well maintained and stocked • Accommodate all requests for information courteously • Accurately answers all questions regarding menus and book store events • Ensures coverage of the host stand at all times • Ensure tables are cleaned and reset • Be familiar with operation of P.O.S. system and Reservations System • Assist in set up of room and service of food and beverages to guests as assigned to ensure optimum service to guests • Assist in service of food and beverage as needed • Remove soiled wares and other items from tables as assigned • Participate in ongoing training and meetings • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• 1 year(s) experience in a guest services setting or equivalent • Previous guest relations training; Food handling certificate • Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal • Compute basic arithmetic • Ability to: ○ perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy ○ perform job functions under variable working conditions (example: heat or cold) ○ prioritize and organize multiple tasks ○ be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment ○ follow directions thoroughly ○ understand guest’s service needs ○ work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team ○ work with minimal supervision. • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas • Remain in stationary position for up to 8 hours throughout work shift • Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
