Renishaw Inc. Trainee Analyst Programmer in Edge, United Kingdom
We are looking for somebody to start their career, or perhaps restart their career, in the interesting world of implementing and supporting commercial I.T. systems. For Renishaw these systems are the computer applications used by the business to produce their financial accounts, manage customer interactions, manufacture products and order components. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be given.
To learn how to use, implement, develop and support the IT systems used by the business units within the Renishaw Group, both in the UK and overseas. This currently includes a range of 3rd party application software and in-house developed solutions.
To use your problem solving and analytical skills, with the support of experienced colleagues, to investigate and resolve system related issues.
To work closely with staff at all levels and in many areas of the business to develop a working understanding of the business activities to assist with the provision of appropriate and cost-effective IT solutions that satisfy the business requirements.
Ideally this is a graduate position, but we will also consider people with good A-levels (or equivalent) especially when coupled with work experience. Either way, you should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for working with computers and the desire to develop a career in IT. This could be shown by achievements in your personal life, previous work experience or during your university/school courses. It is vital that you have a willingness to learn.
Any experience of data analysis, manufacturing or business processes would be a distinct advantage, but these skills can be taught and may not have been part of your education thus far. Foreign language skills would also be useful when dealing with people from our overseas subsidiary companies. Any computer programming skills will be beneficial too, however, training courses will be provided for this as required.
The successful applicant will be an effective communicator, self-motivated, organised and capable of managing a diverse workload. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is important.
Opportunities for career development and training
Training will be provided to supplement your existing experience as required to effectively carry out the job role. The training may take the form of on-the-job training by peers, use of self-paced online training materials, attendance of internal training courses or attendance of external training courses as appropriate.
Career progression within the Business Systems department is an established path from Trainee Analyst/Programmer to Analyst/Programmer, with further progression likely for the right candidate.
This exciting opportunity is based at our New Mills site, located just outside Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire. However, depending on the exact role within the team you are assigned, there will be a requirement to travel to other Renishaw sites within Gloucestershire, the UK, and/or overseas.
When you join Renishaw, you're committing to your future career. That's because we believe in developing our peoples’ skills and promoting them internally. We also offer a benefits package that's highly desirable, including a 9% non-contributory pension, discretionary annual bonus and pay reviews, subsidised onsite restaurant, free parking and sports and leisure societies. Of course, we appreciate there’s more to work than the office, so we also offer 25 days holiday, Life Assurance and BUPA Renishaw Health Trust.
