BD, also known as Becton Dickinson, provides pen needles for the care of Diabetes patients globally. The plant, based in Dun Laoghaire, runs 24/7 and is the Worldwide Centre of Excellence for Pen Needle Manufacturing within the BD organization, producing 4.6 billion medical devices annually.

Here we employ approximately 450 people across operations, engineering, quality and R&D. We are currently recruiting for a Packaging and Graphics technician on a 12-month fixed term maternity cover contract to join our Dun Laoghaire team.

As Graphics and Packaging Technician you will plan, set up, and prepare final graphic designs for the various packaging materials used in the manufacturing of products sold by BD Medical – Diabetes Care.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Produce multilingual graphic designs for packaging materials using Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe PhotoShop on an Apple Mac;

  • To prepare for release artwork to vendors and liaise with vendors to have design proofs prepared and submitted for BD’s approval prior to the printing of packaging materials;

  • Prepare packaging drawings, packaging specifications for the range of products produced by BD in Ireland. Prepare ECOs required for the release of drawings and specifications;

  • Liaise with BD vendors on the set up and design of packaging materials;

  • Provide support to the Dun Laoghaire plant on continuous improvement / cost saving projects;

  • Approve teardrop label proofs submitted by vendors.

The ideal candidate will have a diploma or equivalent qualification in Packaging and/or Art and Design. (Graphic design for the printing industry and a diploma from the institute of packaging would be acceptable qualifications).

You will have qualification in

  • Adobe Illustrator,

  • Adobe InDesign

  • Adobe Photoshop.

You will ideally have experience of work in a similar position in healthcare or related an industry. Your ability to work within strict quality systems and guidelines is essential for this role as are excellent planning and organizational skills. SAP experience is desirable but not essential.
