Volvo Group Technical Continuous Improvement Manager in Dublin, Virginia

JOB SUMMARY

The New River Valley Plant is implementing Lean production principles throughout all processes. As part of a team dedicated to developing and implementing new Lean concepts within the plant, the Technical Continuous Improvement Manager will be tasked with developing and aiding the theoretical part of the Lean implementation journey. This person will be responsible for the classroom development along with making sure the plant has the right education and know how to make it progressively through the Lean journey.

This position will work with all levels inside the plant from the leadership team to the operators on the shop floor. They will also work with the Volvo Production System (VPS) global network. They will have the ability to influence the Lean journey at the local, as well as the global level.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the knowledge transfer and understanding of the Lean tools/principles to all organizations in the plant

  • Create training programs for Lean tools

  • Expert training in Lean concepts

  • An active contributor to the Continuous Improvement System development within the Continuous Improvement Global Network

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or Business

MINIMUM YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • WCM (World Class Manufacturing) experience is strongly desired and preferred

  • Transformational Leadership experience is strongly desired and preferred

  • Eight (8) Years of Continuous Improvement experience in a manufacturing environment with educational requirements; preferably in automotive or trucking or equivalent education and experience, OR

  • Ten (10) Years of Continuous Improvement experience in a manufacturing environment without educational requirements; preferably in automotive or trucking or equivalent education and experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Education in supply chain, logistics, lean, engineering or equivalent

  • Specialist in Lean tools and concepts

  • Proactive coaching and change management skills with a strong drive to improve

  • Demonstrated experience and success in the application of Continuous Improvement philosophies, tools, and techniques
