Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurants Director of Operations Analysis in Downers Grove, Illinois

Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants is a modern casual Napa-inspired full-service restaurant with a scratch kitchen, full bar, winery-inspired private event space and an artisan retail market. We are looking for a Director of Operations Analysis for our growing Finance and Accounting team. Reporting to the VP, Finance, this position provides support and guidance for budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning for all aspects of Restaurant Operations and conducts financial analysis, modeling, forecasting, and reporting efforts to ensure efficient operational performance. This individual provides leadership and coaching to the finance team and direct reports.

This position will be based at our Restaurant Support Center. Our office will be moving from Countryside, IL to Downer's Grove in late 2018/early 2019.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with VP, Finance and Finance team to drive the annual strategic planning process, identifying, prioritizing, and analyzing key operational growth options (organic and inorganic)

  • Translate strategic plans into specific resource requirements and performance milestones

  • Benchmark current and forecasted operational financial performance relative to peers and other best-in-class companies

  • Help articulate company strategies to all relevant stakeholders through written and verbal communications in polished and compelling manner

  • Support Operation’s Leadership daily as their key partner within the Finance team

  • Enhance and maintain existing labor models in templates used by Restaurant Operations, as well as the ability to develop labor models based on guest per labor hour

  • Support the menu analysis team by enhancing and maintaining existing restaurant menu models used to calculate impacts of menu changes to pricing, sales, COGS, and margin

  • Project manage and support the development of new reports used to track the key performance metrics of Restaurant Operations

  • Support the weekly reporting process which includes the timely output of sales, inventory/COGS, labor, and operating expense reporting to both Operations and the Restaurant Support Center

  • Oversee and support forecasting, reporting, and analysis related to wine inventory and purchasing needs of restaurants

  • Weekly collaborate with SVP of Operations to develop agenda for weekly Operations review meeting and present/lead financial discussion

  • Create financial tools, reporting mechanisms, business modeling and financial planning processes that will effectively scale with the company's growth

  • Continued optimization of the financial performance of new Restaurant efficiency plans

  • Lead strategic business decisions through ad-hoc financial analysis, interpret financial data and recommend changes to achieve strategic goals

  • Lead the preparation of the annual Restaurant/Operations Budget process as well as monthly & quarterly forecasts

  • Provide decision support for and timely financial analysis to Operations Leadership and other key stakeholders

  • Identify areas of risk and threats and opportunities within the business model, via discussion and financial data, and communicate those to stakeholders and company leadership

  • Evaluate and monitor weekly results of individual restaurants

  • Handle financial forecasting, annual budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis for Restaurant Operations, plus special projects (e.g. Board/investor reporting)

  • Analyze monthly, quarterly, and year to date financial results: performing actual to budget / forecast variance analysis on P&L of individual, comparable restaurant, and consolidated results

  • Collaborate with the Financial, Planning, and Analysis team to implement and maintain long-term business models and other intelligence tools/dashboard

  • Fostering an understanding of financial performance and P&L management across the Company

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics required, MBA/CPA preferred

  • Experience in multi-unit Restaurant, Retail, and Hospitality industry required. Casual dining restaurant experience strongly preferred

  • Experience in analysis and modeling related to menu pricing and predictive labor forecasting.

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in a restaurant, retail, or hospitality industries analyzing, forecasting, and planning operations and working with Operations

  • Experience managing people and demonstrated ability to deliver results by establishing high standards of excellence and personal drive to accomplish goals

  • Excellent analytical, financial modeling (Excel) skills – demonstrate critical thinking, ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations

  • Ability to performance and teach financial measurement techniques (IIR, NPV, pro formas, etc.).

  • Highly analytical and logical; skilled at problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level

  • Ability to demonstrate acute attention to detail

  • Possess a high level of intellectual curiosity and exceptionally strong problem-solving skills

  • Must be innovative, a self-starter, and a proven performer with a history of delivering results

  • Ability to work with all levels of management, including senior leadership

  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively in a matrix organization

  • Able to deliver results under tight deadlines and at times with minimum direct supervision

  • Strong computer skills to include Excel and other Microsoft Office products
