This is an union, afternoon shift Monday-Friday position with periodic weekends and 12 hour shifts. The core work hours are 3:00pm to 11:30pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch period.

Job Summary

The Media Base Equipment Operator will perform manufacturing operations associated with the production of animal-based peptones.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Media Base Equipment Operator will be responsible to:

  • Prepare raw material for use in digest kettles

  • Setup and operate vacuum condensers, digest kettles, steam kettles and filter presses

  • Setup and load product dryers

  • Unload, weigh and transfer dried product

  • Operate pH meters

  • Obtain measurements using refractometers

  • Equipment cleaning

  • Facility cleaning

  • Perform other duties as assigned by a Supervisor including cross-training on other equipment

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be able to write legibly

  • Read and comprehend directions

  • Basic math skills

  • Follow instructions

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong verbal communication


High School Diploma or GED is required.


No experience required as on-the-job training will be conducted.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Good Manufacturing Practices / ISO experience

  • Good Documentation experience

  • Use of Standard Operating Procedures
