May lead the solution design and implementation aspects of engagement(s) ensuring high quality, integrated software solutions within constraints of time and budget. May act as the team lead on projects, providing coaching, guidance and feedback to develop skills of team members. Effectively consults with management of customer organizations. Participates in business development activities. Develops and leads detailed solutions for moderately complex projects.
6-8 years of experience relevant to this position including 3-4 years consulting experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience preferred. Product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Ability to travel as needed.

As a Custom Services Engineer at Oracle Opower, you will work with a cross-functional Agile team to design, scope, estimate, build, implement and test fully-functional energy efficiency and customer engagement SaaS solutions that deliver optimal business value to our utility clients. You will collaborate with a diverse group, including Technical Project Managers, Graphic Designers, Pre-sales Consultants, and members of the Product Development teams. Developing new and innovative custom solutions, bridging the gap between off-the-shelf products and customer requirements, is key to our success.
Our Custom Services Engineers rely on a diverse technical skill-set, including: data manipulation via complex SQL queries, experience on the Linux command line, shell scripting, and software development using high-level programming languages such as Java, Python, or Ruby. We do not expect you to immediately master the full spectrum of technologies used, but through on-the-job training and coaching, you will gain the necessary skills required to partner with Product Management and our Implementation Engineering team for utility clients.
Additionally, the Custom Services Engineering team increasingly relies on a variety of Oracle off-the-shelf products. This includes Oracle PaaS and IaaS products as well as other Utilities products (Work and Asset Management, Meter Data Management, etc), Oracle Marketing Cloud, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (API Platorm, Digital Assitant, Container Pipelines, Databaes Cloud Service, etc).
Communicate with Oracle pre-sales, client success, product development and resources of the utility company client to discuss goals and requirements, explain technical requirements including web integration, single sign-on configuration, and automated transfer of utility data, outbound communications options, custom web design, integration with 3rd parties and more.
In collaboration with the Principal Services Architect, design, develop, implement and test new and innovative solutions for customer engagement, data analysis, and demand side management.
Analyze, transform, and load utility data from the utility clients to meet Oracle Opower s data standards
Integrate utility data with additional data from various 3rd party sources to generate a holistic customer profile
Build and maintain a deep understanding of our products with the ability to explain them to our clients; Identify and communicate product and platform features that substantially improve delivery speed or quality
Configure and customize Oracle Opower s energy efficiency SaaS platform to meet the specific needs of each client
Be accountable for high quality deliverables through enforcing best practices & peer-reviews among engineers and following test driven implementation, wherever applicable.
Create detailed UAT test plans that will be reviewed and utilized by external clients and 3rd-party partners
Build long-term relationships with utility clients by launching programs from pilot phase to through large-scale rollouts
Collaborate with cross functional teams to operationalize new Oracle Opower products and features
Bachelor s degree in computer science or related field
6-8 years of hands-on technical experience including 3-4 years consulting experience preferred.
You enjoy sniffing out complex, technical issues and solving them
Experience coordinating systems, integration, UAT and full end-to-end/operational readiness testing
You are able to write SQL for large data sets and have recent experience with relational databases, MySQL preferred
You demonstrate some programming knowledge (most of our code is in Ruby and Java, but Perl, Python, shell scripting have their places too)
