TheMechanical Engineerwill provide mechanical engineering services to the Ingot department to safely meet Arconic’ s business plan by providing support to production, maintenance, and engineering. In this role, you will serve as a critical team member in the efficiency, output, and quality of our processes and will be responsible for mechanical systems safely integrated with manufacturing, along with upgrades of existing equipment.

Other duties will include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Coordinate all phases of assigned area mechanical engineering projects from concept, scope development, written specifications, bid solicitations, design, manufacturing, equipment commissioning, and project closure

  • Focus on tactical projects in the areas of safety, recovery improvement, machine reliability, training, and production

  • Utilize project management tools for coordinating efforts on process improvements; including capital improvement and sustaining projects, and will support and lead the execution of problem solving efforts related to process and machine improvements

  • /Although the person in this position works primarily daytime shifts M-F, it is expected that they work off-shifts and/or weekends as needed to support the functions of this role./

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Ag Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Minimum 1 years’ experience in a manufacturing industry (co-op and internships may be included)

  • Experience interpreting design of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or utility systems for machine understanding and performing improvement modifications

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to work & interact at all levels of an organization

  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years Manufacturing experience in the non-ferrous cast house

  • Experience with specific direct chill ingot tooling, molten metal furnaces, casting cylinders, metal treatment and related systems

  • Motion control understanding and ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems

  • Working knowledge of fits and tolerances. (i.e. GD&T)

  • Experience leading mechanical projects

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
