Ares Management is seeking a Manager of Network Engineering in the Los Angeles area. The ideal candidate will be passionate about network engineering and working with the latest tools. This position will be foundational in the technology solutioning for Ares Management and will require hands-on experience with fundamental network engineering knowledge. The candidate must interact with various IT functions to properly design a solution that enables the business.
This role will be active in monitoring, managing, defining and improving network metrics. This individual will help architect a secure and stable environment for Ares while enabling the users with the latest technology. The Manager of Network Engineering will be responsible for supporting the production environment of Ares and assist in troubleshooting any issues related to the network. You will work closely with other members of information technology.

Primary Function & Essential Responsibilities
Ability to create processes, procedures and automation related to network engineering
Responsible for supporting the internal/external network - Business Offices, Data Center, and Cloud.
Ability to drive quality into metrics and build reports focusing on improvement. This includes measurement of project plans, deployment schedules, KPI's and review SLA's for support tickets and accuracy.
Own all facets of performance and career management for the team. Regular one-on-one meetings with all team members are required.
Provide both technical and 'soft skill' mentoring to maintain a well-rounded, well-balanced team. This includes project management, quality audits, and coordination of training sessions as well as day-to-day oversight of the team.
Assist in developing and improving incident and change management within the networking engineering space. Responsibilities include driving initiatives regarding improvements to existing processes, provide feedback, develop new practices & procedures, support audit initiatives to scale with the expansion of the network and customer base.
Evaluate potential candidates, participate in initial phone screens and provide relevant guidance and feedback during on-site interviews. Ensuring that proper training takes place for all new hires and continued technical improvement of existing resources.
Responsible for network project deliverables for all members of the network team; Architect & Mid-level Network engineer.
Responsible for long-term, permanent solutions to repetitive network issues ensuring continues improvements of network up-time.
Bachelor degree in computer science or a related technical degree

7+ Years of Network Architecture experience
5+ Years of large-scale, enterprise-class planning, design, implementation and support experience.
4+ Years of enterprise or service provider network skills with the proven capability to implement and support complex environments.
5+ Years leading networking engineering teams.
Solid verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Ability and desire to train and mentor junior talent.
Expert configuration in protocols MPLS, VPLS, L3VPN, DMVPN.
Expert implementation and configuration of routing protocols - EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, RIPv2, OSPF, and other Cisco defined protocols.
Expert knowledge in DMZ, load balancing, traffic shaping, traffic filtering, 2-factor authentication, and other network related design features.
Expert configuration of Cisco routers/switches of varying project line - 29XX, 35XX, 37XX, 38XX, 39XX, 43XX, 44XX.
Knowledge of the Cisco Nexus platform and configuration.
Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls.
Experience with collaboration products.
Experience supporting VOIP telephony systems
