Minimum/Required Qualifications Ph.D. in a field relevant to climate science such as atmospheric science, oceanography, ecology, physical geography, or biogeochemical cycles, with an emphasis on climate. A strong scholarly potential that is demonstrated by a record of peer-reviewed publications and a clearly defined research agenda. Demonstrated ability or significant potential for establishing a research program supported by extramural funding. Demonstrated success at leadership across multiple academic units. Demonstrated ability to communicate scientifically challenging climate change issues. A commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting and to advancing the participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives. Proficiency in written English and excellent public speaking ability. As Full Professor: demonstrated success in research, teaching and service consistent with the CEOAS standards for promotion to the rank. Position Duties 25% Develop innovative partnerships and funding mechanisms to advance the mission of OCCRI. Leading and supporting other faculty and research leaders at Oregon institutions of higher education, and key partners in competitive proposals, pursuing philanthropic opportunities, and interfacing with program managers and others at federal agencies and other funding entities to strategically support OCCRI's long-term mission and activities. 20% Research activities resulting in peer-reviewed publications. Establish and maintain an externally funded program of scholarly research in the area of emphasis. Maintain distinction in research as evidenced by national and international recognition through significant contributions to the field of climate change. Publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed, top-ranked journals, conference proceedings, and books appropriate for the areas of interest. Disseminate research results by participation at national and international professional conferences and symposia. 15% Outreach and communications. Oversee communications strategy for OCCRI, including developing and supporting a clearinghouse for climate change knowledge and information; conveying climate knowledge to the public through public speaking and other communications (e.g. social media); serving as a source for news media. Maintain strong relationship with OCCRI's advisory council. 15% Internal leadership.
