Our National Tax Department (NTD) serves high-profile, national and multinational clients, providing a range of domestic and international transactional tax planning services and tax-related advisory services. Your key responsibilities
Providing trust tax compliance outsourcing and support services for organizations that utilize a trust accounting system including banks, wealth management firms, family offices, trust companies and law firms. You will be trained, coached and mentored with responsibilities growing incrementally as the professional learns and develops in the role.
Skills and attributes for success
Translating complex data from a range of sources into client-ready insights and deliverables
Reviewing and correcting account and transaction data bridged from client accounting systems to company-licensed software application, initiating and reviewing data scans and hard copies of account and transaction data
Building effective long-term relationships with our clients, understanding their unique needs to provide a tailored service
Using knowledge of tax law and software applications to correct data in various ways, including modifying tax coding and inserting missing or corrected data
Reviewing source data and making decisions about proper tax reporting of income, deductions, sales, and beneficiary and recipient allocations using company systems
Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients
Prepare and review 1099 forms and fiduciary income tax returns
Managing workflow effectively to comply with clients’ needs and expectations
Maintaining your reputation in your field by constantly updating and sharing your technical and finest practice knowledge
Identifying and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve our services and processes
To qualify for the role you must have
A bachelor's degree in a related field, supported by significant tax or financial planning experience
A CPA certification or membership in The Bar
Approximately 1-2 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization
A thorough understanding of estate and wealth planning
Experience with federal and state personal and trust income tax
Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds
A thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems and laws within your area of technical professionalism
Ideally, you’ll also have
A proven record in fiduciary tax; thorough understanding of fiduciary tax law and concepts required to prepare US Federal and State returns
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members
Proficient with trust tax software
