University of Colorado UCCS Teach Program Coordinator in Colorado Springs, Colorado

UCCSTeach is the secondary teacher licensure program for math and science majors on the UCCS campus. We work with the Colleges of Education; Letters Arts and Sciences and Engineering and Applied Science, to coordinate our students’ pedagogical content with core content as they work to become middle and high school math or science teachers. Our program is a replication of a national teacher preparation program for math and science majors. We work with both undergraduate and post baccalaureate students.

This professional is responsible for a wide range of areas in the UCCSTeach program including academic, administrative, and student services functions. Work involves exercising discretion, analytical skill and personal accountability to the co-directors and the provost. This professional makes decisions in organizing and establishing work processes to ensure delivery of the UCCSTeach program, independently resolving problems as they arise, exercising a high level of judgement, independent thought and decision-making. This professional will have direct involvement with the National UTeach Institute in all aspects of data collection, analysis; and preparation of all financial data as requested. This professional will manage the logistics of working with a substantial number of K-12 in service mentor teachers for the student field experiences and internships; serving as a liaison to maintain strategic partnerships with school district personnel and university faculty.

_The duties of this professional will include:_

  • Manage the UCCSTeach program in a proactive and professional manner.

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the UCCSTeach program.

  • Provide student advising for current and prospective UCCSTeach students.

  • Direct and independent work with local school districts to secure professional development sites.

  • Design, develop and implement all marketing materials, with continued focus and updating of the plan.

  • Analysis of post baccalaureate’s qualification to enroll under a teacher certification (TCRT) application for teacher licensure.

  • Research and continued work with Colorado Department of Education on Teacher Licensure.

  • Research and analysis of Senate Bills that affect teacher licensure.

  • Ongoing research in the area of K-12 public education and teacher employment.

  • Provide analysis of data relating to the program.

  • Manage student employee biweekly pay processing and salary employee’s monthly time sheet processing, as necessary.

  • Provide guidance to department on the HR- and payroll-related processes and employee onboarding/HR training; create and maintain personnel files.

  • Assist with position recruitment, search, hire processes.

  • Management and allocation of the UCCSTeach budget and donor/grant funds.

  • Research and purchasing of technology and teaching materials as needed by the department.

  • Independent work and decision making related to student recruitment, including the design and content control for UCCSTeach website, Facebook page and other social media outlets.

  • Attend all recruiting fairs on and off campus to represent UCCSTeach program.

  • Compliance with IRB documents for all enrolled students.

  • Background check and fingerprinting compliance prior to K-12 field work.

  • Develop and maintain a detailed electronic database of all past, current, and incoming candidates in the UCCSTeach Program.

  • Development and collaboration with on and off campus student opportunities.

  • Provide support and guidance for master teachers, adjunct faculty, and other faculty as appropriate, on campus and college policies and procedures.

  • Ability to adapt to changing software systems, embrace new technology and able to quickly learn new software applications and productivity tools.

This position has been determined to be eligible for overtime (non-exempt) under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Salary: $48,200

_Minimum Requirements:_

Four years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position. Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

_Preferred Requirements:_

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Extensive knowledge of K-12 public school systems

  • Experience with Colorado Department of Education

  • Experience advising students at the higher education level
