Job Description

The Postdoctoral Research Associate specifically related to research activities, require an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science or learning, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent use of discretion and judgment.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Planning and conducting experiments

  • Recording and analyzing data

  • Carrying out toxicological and infectious disease studies

  • Presenting results to senior/other research staff

  • Writing research papers, reports, reviews and summaries

  • Ability to learn new procedures and demonstrating that procedures can be repeated

  • Preparing research proposals and funding applications

  • Supervising junior staff including technicians and graduate students

  • Training technicians and students in laboratory techniques

  • Organizing product/materials testing

  • Ensuring that quality standards are met

  • Liaising with research and/or technical staff to facilitate collaborations

  • Developing original solutions to problems

  • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Infectious Disease and toxicology experience.

  • Animal Handling

  • Independent research

Responsibilities:

  • Experimental Design and experimental setup

  • Conducting Experiments

  • Training and supervising

  • Writing research papers, reports, reviews and summaries, and proposals

  • Performs other duties as assigned
