CARPENTER 1-3 Location: Cold Spring, MN Department: Maintenance Supervisor: Dave Theis Job Summary: This position is responsible for construction, as well as the maintenance of all buildings and grounds, and completing assigned work orders safely and on time. The job would progress to remodeling of buildings and infrastructure with limited supervision. Ultimately the job would require leading in each of these areas with no supervision. Duties: Assists/completes/leads in maintaining and remodeling the interior and exterior of all buildings, ensuring they are in good operating condition Assists or leads in maintaining on and off-site buildings including installing cabinets, trim, sheet rock, taping, spraying and texturizing Assists or performs concrete work building, erecting, and aligning forms for various structures and foundations including pouring, floating, troweling, edging and brushing per specifications; works toward estimating concrete yardage and proper mixture At advanced levels of the job, must have general knowledge of residential electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems Understands blueprints and works toward a technical knowledge of principles involved in blueprints and construction specifications Assists or performs brick and stone mason work including measuring, cutting and setting stone and blocks according to a pattern using mortar to set in place Assists or works as a tile and stone setter which includes layout, setting, and grouting granite floors, walls, and counters according to blueprint specifications Works toward operating and understanding laser and transit to determine and transfer elevations Assists or uses advanced principles to assemble glass niche units and to complete on-site installations; assisting drafters, project managers and vendors where needed Assists or installs, trouble shoots and repairs overhead doors and openers Aids sales team with the erection of granite mock-ups for granite sales and conventions Performs carpentry duties which includes creating shipping containers, cabinets, and assembly of bronze memorials for cemetery displays Works toward erecting and maintaining pre-engineered metal buildings Completes work orders in a timely manner Operates equipment including front end loader, skid loader, and snow removal equipment safely Assures sidewalks and parking lots are clean and safe, by removing snow, sanding icy areas, etc. Maintains and ensures grounds are safe and project a positive appearance Completes preventive maintenance on all equipment as assigned Operates safely and maintains all power and hand tools associated with job functions Follows 5S procedures and meets department expectations Trains others once performing the Carpenter 3 duties Performs other duties as assigned Requirements: Self-motivated and able to collaborate on a team Knowledge of using a cutting torch and minor welding Willing to travel to other locations Ensures shop, truck, tools, and equipment are clean and orderly Physical Demands: Lifts up to 75 lbs. Climbs, bends, kneels, stoops, crawls and lifts regularly Works indoors and outdoors with exposure to all adverse weather conditions Works in an environment with constant or intermittent noise Uses scaffolding and lifts Exposed to dust and chemicals Education: High school diploma required with up to a 2 year vocational diploma with 2-5 years of job related experience. A written and practicum exam will be administered. Class D up to a Commercial Driver s License and medical card required.
