Title: Manager of Assembly Operations

As Manager of Assembly Operations, your essential job functions will include the following:
Lead the Assembly Operations team to meet cost objectives and customer demand. These responsibilities include meeting and exceeding service performance, quality specifications, inventory coordination & accuracy, and cost control KPIs while contributing to sales budget attainment.
Full Profit and Loss Responsibilities for three assembly sites and support staff
Manage Key Processes to Support Inventory Strategies and Work Order Management
Develop monthly purchase forecasts and collaborate with Program Management to ensure projected demand is supported.
Monitor and ensure new and future fitment availability and component in-stock levels are achieved.
Manage phase in/phase out, safety stock, replenishment, and production strategies.
Manage take-off tire inventory and component storage capacity.
Identify projected supply gaps and implement solutions to protect future availability.
Achieve targeted inventory related metrics such as, turns, in-stock and unproductive inventory.
Prepare and conduct Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment meetings.
Manage Key Processes to Support Operations Strategies
Develop assembly and quality procedures, establish standards, audit quality and compliance to ensure the timely delivery of product to customers.
Implement operational improvements to meet cost, safety, training, quality, and service goals.
Develop monthly operational goals and KPIs for assembly programs.
Assess and negotiate equipment needs, testing equipment, testing procedures, training, inspection, auditing, and feedback programs to support all program objectives.
Provide production and inventory reporting to Supply Chain and Program Management.
Identify and resolve quality and operational issues in conjunction with internal departments and/or OEMs.
Partner with OEMs and internal departments to determine compliance to procedure requirements and OEM specifications.
Manage Key Processes to Support Program Management Strategies
Partner with Program Management to ensure adherence to program goals and objectives.
Represent the Assembly Operations Team in front of customers when needed and be able to professionally articulate our service offerings and capabilities.
Collaborate with program management and sales teams to understand the requirements of new programs and customers’ needs.
Track & measure profitability of individual programs and recommend steps to improve performance.
Determine staffing needs, interview candidates, and make recommendations on them.
Communicate expectations/strategic vision to team members.
Direct team members’ daily activities.
Monitor performance, conduct annual performance evaluation of each team member and recommend appropriate action such as compensation changes, promotions, counseling and termination.
Motivate, coach, train, counsel and provide career development for each team member.
Manage associates in a matrix organizational environment.
Minimum of five (5) years Supply Chain experience in a multi-distribution center/manufacturing operations environment.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience leading and developing direct reports.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Inventory Management, Purchasing, Operations, or Business-related field.
Preference of 3+ years in automotive tier 1
Prefer experience in tire/wheel assembly
MBA or Masters in SC/Engineering preferred.
Experience in setting standards, writing SOPs, lean six-sigma, 6S, ISO.
Experience interfacing with and exceeding customers’ expectations
Proficiency in preparing and presenting technical papers/presentations to internal and external stakeholders
Experience setting up and managing BOMs and work orders preferred.
Demonstrates good interpersonal, verbal and written communication, problem solving, negotiating and time management skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint at an intermediate level.
Physical job requirements
Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen.
Sitting for long periods of time.
Travel as necessary, 30-80%
