Job Summary: Assembles by hand or using hand tools or portable powered tools or operates equipment as necessary to produce or process electrical control panels. Assembles panels according to custom specifications, following electrical schematics and other written and verbal direction. Creates work plans for each assembly, following established procedures and using knowledge gained by experience. This position is viewed as skilled and is distinguished from the Product Assembler (Bench) as well as the general Assembler, as it requires more training and experience, generally two to three years, to perform the activities.
Duties & Responsibilities: All duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Assemble electrical and mechanical aspects of control panels
Read and interrupt electrical schematics and develop wiring charts
Pull parts from inventory for electrical panels based on bills of material
Document changes and corrections to any and all drawings, descriptions, and bills of material
Use basic hand, electric and pneumatic tools
Operate machinery such as drill presses and punches
Use overhead cranes to lift, move, and manipulate larger parts
Safely operate a tow motor and other electric vehicles
Tap, drill, ream, punch, and de-burr holes, using presses, drills, punches, grinders, and hand files.
Align components, and bolt or screw them together, using hand tools or portable powered tools.
Work individually, and as part of a team, to ensure quality products are completed on time
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
Strictly adhere to quality standards, inspecting parts and products to ensure they meet both customer and company requirements
Diagnose and repair assemblies and products that are returned from the field

Knowledge of electrical principles

Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Previous experience in manufacturing or assembly environment • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, layout drawings, and assembly instructions• Experience with electrical wiring• Mechanical/electrical aptitude required to diagnose and solve issues arising during manufacturing• Experience using basic hand tools and small machinery• Experience using overhead cranes and hoists preferred • Experience using a tow motor preferred • Experience using MS Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
