Wolters Kluwer Senior Project & Program Manager - Product Development in Chicago, Illinois


The Senior Project & Program manager role is critical to implementing a holistic Product LifeCycle model, thus driving our portfolio's business success. It is an advisory role influencing product line leader, cross-functional product teams and individual contributors to adopt best practices and new processes.

In this important role, you will draw on your experience in and expertise of Product LifeCycle (PLC). The role will ensure PLC processes are operationally executed effectively to achieve relevant business goals. Pro-active uncovering of organizational, business process, and strategic bottlenecks to these goals, and support resolution of the identified bottlenecks. The role will also help continuously improve the PLC through collection and maintenance of PLC measurements, refinement of business processes, and work closely with other CE-wide process improvement efforts.


The preferred location for this hire will be in Waltham MA. (However, candidates in Chicago and Indianapolis IN may be considered).


You will work in a global capacity, supporting the success of one or more product lines.

  • Accountable for implementation and effective adherence to Product LifeCycle Processes (PLC) spanning - Product Planning, Product Execution, and Lifecycle Management (LCM)

  • Work closely with Product Line leadership to ensure strategic and business goals are achieved consistently.

  • Ensure new product idea velocity and quality are maintained at an high level

  • Support progress of ideas in the pipeline

  • Help ensure quality of idea management process deliverables and review readiness

  • Transition mature ideas into business releases through quarterly planning

  • Maintain metrics associated with idea planning processes

  • Support timely initiation and effective cross-functional execution of business releases into PLC phases

  • Preparation for phase gate reviews

  • Coordinate across PM, Segments, and Services effective execution of Pilot/Beta Programs for a Product Line

  • Support efficient and effective customer engagement across Pilot, Beta and Launch

  • Ensure ongoing success of launched products through ongoing market management

  • Track and maintain ongoing performance post-launch

  • Support coordinated efforts to support sales and channel to drive customer adoption and new market entries

  • Support product retirement initiatives, as appropriate

  • Support communications of Product Line health

  • Development of reports and periodic management updates

  • Maintain performance management information related to end-to-end Product Development through Metrics and dashboards, and periodic management reports

  • Ensure effective and efficient PLC operations

  • Maintain most current version of Product Line Business Briefing Book (Market-related, Historical Finances, Product-related -- which change slowly)

  • Maintain a calendar for the Product Line across all PLC activities; Proactively orchestrate activities to ensure timely and high-quality execution of the PLC processes

  • Works closely with the Product Management and PMO to shape day-to-day PLBT operations (topics to be reviewed, prep required, follow through) and information portal

  • Act as the connective tissue for your cross-functional product team, ensuring stakeholders are aligned around a common business goal and coordinated in achieving them

  • Communicate insights to product line leadership, who will use them to guide business decision-making


Education: A Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent, relevant experience. MBA preferred .


  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with Product Lifecycle, Idea to Retirement, at a healthcare technology company

  • Deep expertise and familiarity with Product Lifecycle and Product management frameworks and best practices such as Pragmatic Marketing, Agile Development processes

  • Understanding of all key functions and their roles for product and solutions business success;

  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to manage and prioritize competing initiatives,

  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills, and proactive resolution of risks

  • High maturity levels to engage different stakeholders at levels and drive Product Line business priorities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is a must

P referred Experiences:

  • Functional familiarity of product commercialization and go-to-market (GTM) activities

  • Prior consulting experience

  • Proficiency in Visio or business process development and visualization tools

  • Experience working in a cross-matrix organization

  • Understanding of health care industry specifically hospitals, pharmacy and insurance business models and trends

  • Experience with global delivery and BPO / SaaS models
