Manager, Strategic Sourcing - Global Products

Global Sourcing is responsible for creating and managing diverse strategic supplier partnerships that drive enterprise value with innovation, best cost and competitive advantages that benefit customers, suppliers and patients. We develop and execute strategic plans by leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge and cross-functional collaboration. Competitive advantage is created through supplier selection and management, contract negotiation, supply chain optimization and risk mitigation.

As a Strategic Sourcing Manager you will be accountable for managing a portfolio of Cardinal Brand sourced products, spend and suppliers. This will be achieved through development and execution of global sourcing strategies to achieve best total value, sustainable productivity and high levels of quality and service aligned with cross-functional business objectives. You will work with business partners to understand customer and patient needs then effectively select suppliers, negotiate favorable contracts, and manage supplier performance and relationships. This will include understanding your portfolio risk profile and developing mitigation actions and plans. You will also use Lean Six Sigma principles to work with cross-functional partners in improving processes. As a manager one of the most important responsibilities is talent development of your direct reports and extended team members.

Accountabilities

  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures to achieve specific goals
  • Independently determines methods for completion of new projects
  • Recommends new practices, processes, metrics, or models
  • Perform data analysis and utilize financial acumen to identify opportunities to leverage scale and drive cost savings.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, quality and supply chain processes to support supplier selection and performance management.
  • Collaborate with and influence business partners in a highly matrixed environment to optimize key supplier performance and innovation.
  • Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues
  • May lead a team
  • Applies advanced knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, and technical capabilities to manage a wide variety of projects

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years sourcing experience, preferably in the medical industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
  • Strong project and process management to execute sourcing strategy with cross functional teams.
  • Expertise with contract requirements to negotiate critical terms and conditions in line with sourcing strategy.
  • Demonstrate experience collaboratively developing sourcing strategies
  • Demonstrate success leading complex projects of large scope
  • Demonstrate Lean Six Sigma process improvement experience
  • Global expertise in category including technical product knowledge, cost drivers, related industry dynamics and market trends.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively and interact with personnel at various levels of expertise on a global landscape.
