Position Responsibilities:


  • Schedule Radiology procedures in a manner that minimizes turnaround time (order placement – exam complete) and maximizes resource utilization. Initiate consultation where necessary

  • Negotiate scheduling of STAT procedures

  • Acquire transport/dispatch information

  • Enter dispatch info into transport system for all inpatient studies

  • Coordinate the scheduling of multiple exams across sections within Radiology in a manner that minimizes the number of trips to the department for the patient

  • Participates in the training of new hires or the cross-training of staff to new and/or revised procedures

  • Applies departmental and Medical Center procedures and guidelines for scheduling and phone etiquette

  • Responsible for scheduling procedures according to available departmental resources

  • Reviews radiology orders for completeness of information

  • Documents patient insurance info for pre-registration clearance. Initiates warm transfers to Patient Access-Admitting when appropriate

  • Assists with appointment confirmation calls


  • Greeter Meets and greets patients, family members and vendors

  • Communicates outpatient arrivals and waiting issues to technical sections

  • Documents the arrival time of the outpatients in the Radiology Information System

  • Performs check-in process for outpatients, including assistance with orders, wristbands and labels

  • Confirms demographic information for outpatients

  • Creates, edits and scans patient registration documents

  • Obtains e-signature for HIPAA and Financial Responsibility Agreement

  • Edits patient visit number for billing accuracy

  • Assumes ownership of patients and family members in the waiting areas, ensuring they are communicated to and are aware of status of procedures and delays

  • Assist with escorting patients to the technical areas for their appointments

Image Processing:

  • Receive and process requests for radiology images or reports

  • Obtain and file required HIPAA Privacy Patient Rights Request Form and Authorization for the release of PHI forms

  • Processes importing of external images into the institutions PACS archive as per workflow and policy

Position Qualifications Include:

  • High School or GED Equivalent required

  • Ability to type 25wpm with 90% accuracy required. (All applicants invited for an interview will be tested)

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, good organizational skills

  • Working knowledge of department and Medical Center preferred
