RedMane is currently in the midst of an exciting time of growth and expansion into new lines of business that will require a particularly strong and versatile technology infrastructure and operations team. In addition to our traditional activities revolving around the on-premise deployment of RedMane solutions for our clients, we are accelerating the development of our capability to provide clients with cloud-based solutions hosted in environments such as Microsoft Azure. The Cloud Systems Administrator will be working in close partnership with our Azure Cloud team and Infrastructure team to stand up and administrating various environments for Testing and Production.
Responsibilities and Duties may include:
Deploying new systems.
Automation using industry-standard tools and practices.
Administering remote machines organized using a complex network architecture.
Ensuring Security and Compliance of systems.
Develop and recommend alternative system engineering approaches to realize desired specifications and/or enhancements based on user requirements.
Develop documentation including the use of flowcharts, project specifications, or diagrams; develop/modify, illustrations of operational sequences necessary to meet user requirements.
Perform feasibility studies, life cycle analysis, and/or cost/benefit studies.
Consult with end users to identify current operational procedures and clarify user objectives.
Assist in infrastructure design as needed and use basic project management skills to ensure task completion.
Monitor infrastructure system and application performance to detect errors; apply testing procedures/methodologies (e.g., diagnostic software) and provide interpretation of data.
Minimum of two (2) years of Linux systems administration experience required.
Experience with Linux scripting and/or programming required.
Familiarity with virtualization required.
Experience with secured environments or protected data required.
Experience with vCenter on creating, deploying virtual machines, templates and clones.
Experience with managing multitiered applications with VMware vSphere vApp.
Experience with managing virtual machines, including migration with VMware vSphere vMotion and using snapshots.
Experience with data center operations preferred.
Experience with monitoring and metrics technologies, such as Nagios, lpar2rrd, Ganglia, Icinga, ElasticSearch Logstash and Kibana (ELK) stack, Graphite, or Grafana preferred.
Experience with automation technologies, such as Ansible or Salt preferred.
Experience with cloud software stacks such as Microsoft Azure, OpenStack, or Amazon AWS preferred.
Experience with distributed file systems, preferably object stores such as IBM Object Storage or Ceph preferred.
Experience with Git repository and Subversion preferred.
Experience with containers, containerization, and Kubernetes preferred..
Ability to lead across a collaborative team environment required.
Ability and willingness to acquire new programming languages.
Ability to prioritize and manage workload to meet critical project milestones and deadlines required.
Confidentiality related to sensitive matters such as strategic initiatives, trade secrets, quiet periods, and scientific discoveries yet to be put in the public domain.
Ability to take a broad plan and break it into incremental tasks and oversee the completion of each task.
Ability to come into a team used to minimal supervision and oversight and ensure accountability for deliverables and outcomes.
Ability to persuade others to adapt new structures or systems in order to meet objectives.
Support assigned systems with on-call availability and respond within agreed upon timeframes
May provide guidance or training for less experienced staff.
Communicate with various levels of staff to provide a regular status regarding AIX Systems Administration projects and activities.
Interface with software vendors to ensure system configuration stability and translate business needs into technology needs.
Bachelor's degree OR equivalent experience required.
Certifications preferred (e.g. LFCS from The Linux Foundation).
