Thermo Fisher Scientific Senior Sourcing Lead in Chelmsford, Massachusetts

How will you make an impact?

Responsible for executing strategic, and tactical sourcing for the business and to ensure product supply and delivery in line with customer expectations.

This role will have 2 direct reports for tactical buying of components used in manufacturing.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for full procurement function related to our Chelmsford and Puerto Rico sites

  • Partner with the sourcing teams in Singapore and at the divisional level

  • Strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, cost reductions and avoidance

  • Ensure PO’s are placed is compliance with Financial approval authority matrix

  • Pursue payment term improvement, lead time reduction and liability negotiation

  • Meet organizational inventory target (DOS)

  • Represent Sourcing in NPI (New Product Introduction) meetings

  • Support Quarter Business Review (QBR) with core suppliers

  • Properly maintain records for ISO 9001:2015 compliance

  • Ensure ECO process is adhered to

How will you get here?

Education

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a manufacturing-related curriculum is strongly preferred

Experience

  • A minimum of 7 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment

  • A minimum of 7 years of career progression in a supply chain and planning environment is preferred. Experience in leading team members, and experience with multi-national business are also preferred.

  • Experience with SAP is preferred

  • Proven experience as a purchasing agent or relevant role

  • Demonstrable experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of market research, data analysis and purchasing best practices

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and purchasing software and an understanding of ERP systems

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A strong analytical mindset

  • A record of success in driving continuous improvement and rapid customer response

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is required

  • Superior leadership skills with demonstrated ability to effectively manage and develop a diverse team of people, and facilitate effective cross-cultural business interaction

  • Financial literacy sufficient to understand Financial Statements and Budgets

  • Must be self-motivated, with a bias for action

  • Must be able to travel occasionally in the US

Metrics

  • Financial Statements, Variance Reports, Expense Reports, Budgets, and other forms of standard financial and planning platform measurements

  • Thermo Fisher Scientific Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Customer Metrics, plus a variety of other performance metrics in common use across a progressive business enterprise
