University of Virginia Health System Histology Technician or Histotechnologist- Full Time Evenings in Charlottesville, Virginia
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing histological procedures to aid in diagnosis, research and instruction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Prepares tissue samples for routine microscopic analysis. 2. Maintains and operates laboratory equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and procedures. 3. Demonstrates knowledge of quality, safety, and compliance programs. 4. Investigates, documents, communicates and resolves needs, problems or complaints. 5. Performs area-specific support/clinical activities. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * Education: Clinical education in a Histology Technician School (HT) program accredited by NAACLS or 1 year experience. * Experience: 1 year experience in a Histology Laboratory. * License/Certification: HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) or eligible. Certification within 18 months of hire.
