The MITRE Charlottesville site is seeking a passionate Software Engineer with cloud integration experience and a desire to enhance cyber security posture of our sponsors. We value engineers who want to lead projects to help government sponsors engineer systems to solve challenging problems affecting our national security.

Key Functions:

The engineer will play a trusted role in helping government sponsorsengineer and architect services focused on development of secure AWS cloud environment. The software engineer will assist with thedevelopment of a thorough, efficient approach to cloud tenant onboarding, and the development of secure component baselines and assessment toolsfor more streamlined authorization process and continuous monitoring capability.

Responsibilities:

Support in the definition of the overall AWS support/management framework for the sponsor, to include by not limited to:

-AWS component provisioning and hardening

-Assess risk postures and develop abuse cases for cloud components and tenant workloads

-Tool development and integration to support security evaluation and continuous monitoring

-Customer / Stakeholder engagement and requirements elicitation

-Security control alignment and selection – interpretation in the context of cloud components and tenant workloads

-Prototyping exemplar software and cloud components to support architectural standards and secure services

-Software and cloud component design and configuration

-Rigorous documentation of architecture and security implementation details

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

BS Degree, TS/SCI clearance, and 5 years related experience.

Required Qualifications:

CI/CD Pipeline development experience

DevOps experience

Experience with AWS architecture and cloud workload integration

Experience with automation scripts and tools

Basic understanding of RMF and NIST 800-53 controls

Security Certification (CompTIA Security )

Experience with Military / Intelligence Community IT Environment and associated operational constraints

Strong writing, interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Web based front end development

Big data processing / parsing

Ruby, Python and modern web development framework & tools

Familiarity with DISA STIGs for various technologies

Secure API engineering

Security Certification (ISACA, ISC2, SANS)
