POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing complex procedures for clinical diagnostic purposes. Serves as a trainer and a role model.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs Patient and Quality Control (QC) testing, develops skills and maintains competency in routine, “specials” and assigned laboratory areas. 2. Maintains proper inventories and correctly uses supplies and reagents. 3. Performs advanced equipment trouble-shooting and equipment maintenance. 4. Ensures a smooth transition to the next shift. 5. Participates in quality, safety and compliance programs. 6. Investigates, documents and resolves problems or complaints. 7. Serves as trainer and role model for Clinical Laboratory Scientist 1 staff and health care professional students.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: * Education: Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related science, Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology (MT/CLS). * Experience: Accredited and approved MT/CLS Program – 0 years; Bachelors in Bio/Chem – 3 years; MLT-4 years. * License/Certification: ASCP or equivalent certification within 18 months of hire.
