Wells Fargo Operational Risk Consultant 5 in Charlotte, North Carolina

The Operational Risk Governance and Reporting office has an exciting opportunity for an Operational Risk Consultant to focus on exam coordination. In order to achieve our aspiration of setting the global standard for risk management, this position plays a crucial role in a variety of key operational risk responsibilities.

The Operational Risk Consultant must be recognized as a subject matter expert in operational risk concepts and risk management activities. The Operational Risk Consultant will apply expertise to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls, and analyze extremely complex business and/or system changes to determine impact. When corrective action is needed, this individual will be expected to consult with accountable parties to develop practical, effective and sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead governance routines related to operational risk committees

  • Lead operational risk escalation routines and processes

  • Develop and lead governance processes related to key indicators and risk appetite

  • Develop and lead governance processes to track adherence and implementation of risk frameworks

  • Assess regulatory changes to determine the impact to operational risk and communicate with leaders to ensure compliance

  • Coordinate operational risk activities to support strategic initiatives

  • Support leadership in coordination of strategic initiatives, issues and the strategic planning process

To be successful, the Operational Risk Consultant must be adaptable to a changing environment and be able to quickly adjust priorities. Also, strong communications skills and the ability to influence business partners are critical for such a role in a complex, highly matrixed organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
