Financial Accounting Analyst

responsibilities:

  • Builds forecasts and budgets for operating expenses including headcount, payroll/compensation, benefits, third-party fees, and other costs.

  • Collects operational data and develops complex financial models to assist decision makers on how to grow, improve profits, and understand results

  • Work collaboratively with groups across various geographies and provide value-added analysis to business leaders.

  • Develop, validate, challenge and explain key financial trends, indicators and performance

  • Understands and researches both financial and business drivers for variances against plan, forecast and prior period. Writes effective variance commentary so that audiences understand movement of financial results.

  • Generates monthly reporting package and presents results to executive leadership

  • Effectively articulates processes, techniques and models verbally and in written format.

  • Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data.

  • Maintains financial information in databases by entering, verifying, and backing up data to ensure accurate forecasting of payroll and expenses

  • Increases productivity through process improvement (data gathering, models, schedules)

  • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or another related field.

  • Experience with, and interest in managing operating expenses.

  • 2-4 years experience in financial planning and analysis roles

  • Strong computer knowledge and skills including Advanced MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database querying tools

  • Detail oriented with expert-level analytical and financial modeling skills

  • Innate ability to drive projects to completion with minimal supervision

  • Excellent presentation skills, articulate communicator, and ability to interact with senior level executives in a positive, polite, and polished manner.

  • A good listener with the ability to influence and persuade diplomatically

  • Excellent time management and organizational ability

  • Ability to multitask and meet constant deadlines

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting
