The * Wholesale Control (WC)* organization serves as the front line risk management organization within the Wholesale Banking group of Wells Fargo supporting the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution. The Wholesale Control team is accountable to assess and effectively manage risks across all risk types and Wholesale businesses delivering an integrated view of risks, producing a sustainable control environment, and instilling a culture of strong risk management. The team is responsible to identify and assess risks, design and implement controls, and execute and monitor the controls to ensure they are working effectively to manage risk across Wholesale. Wholesale Control interfaces with Independent Risk Management and Audit to drive comprehensive and consistent implementation of regulatory and corporate risk policies and programs across Wholesale.

The * Business Functional Manager (BFM)* role, within Governance & Programs, is a management position reporting to the Governance & Strategy Lead. This position will manage the G&P team’s communications, staffing, facilities and administration processes and needs. The BFM is responsible for developing and implementing a fully integrated Analytics, Reporting and Analysis (ARA) infrastructure to support the group and leverage resources for multiple, on-going ARA activities/initiatives. The G&P BFM role will serve as a central resource and knowledge center to efficiently and effectively support the operation of the G&P team and Wholesale business objectives.

The BFM is responsible for managing multiple, non-production business functional areas with cross-group impact including, but not limited to, process/quality management, project management, communications, business systems consulting, incident management, analytics, operational accounting. Drives planning and implements strategy across functional areas to ensure operational excellence and process efficiency. Contributes to the development of long-term strategies, policies and process advancements. May be responsible for overall management of a G&P process.

The BFM Leader’s role includes the following responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day administrative operations of the G&P team

• Influence and accountability over complex projects involving cross-functional groups

• Act as an objective advisor to Senior Management

• Effectively communicate with all levels of management, partners and team members across the group and enterprise

• Prepare financial reports, develop and implement budgets

• Manage the hiring and contracting process for G&P

• Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.

Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of management experience

  • 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following functional areas: business process, quality assurance, strategic planning, or project management

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
