Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director for Staff and Leadership Programs provides leadership and development for the staff and students in assigned buildings/areas. Additionally, the Assistant Director will advise the Resident Students Association and will facilitate leadership development and recognition programs for student staff and residents. The Assistant Director is a member of the department’s central management team and is responsible for providing departmental leadership in crisis situations. The Assistant Director serves as a consultant and a resource to professional and student staff within the department in the areas of student group advising, programming, leadership development, staff training/development, and supervision. The Assistant Director reports to an Associate Director for Residence Life. Principal responsibilities include supervision and development of full time staff, serving as part of the central management team, facilitation of residential leadership development, promotion of community standards and community development, coordinator of recognition programs for student staff and residents, advisor to the Resident Students Association, crisis management, and other departmental/campus-wide responsibilities.

Minimum Experience / Education:

Master’s degree (ideally in higher education, counseling and/or student personnel, or a related field)

Minimum of 5 years of professional housing (post-masters) experience in housing, student affairs, or a related field.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

Experience advising residence hall council or similar student organizations
