Applied Memetics LLC System Security Engineer (US citizenship required) in Chantilly, Virginia
Applied Memetics LLC is seeking an experienced, motivated System Security Engineer to support our VA customer and has experience providing security engineering and analysis support for complex web applications. This resource must be comfortable working collaboratively with a team of other engineers, as well as owning engineering tasks from beginning to end. Experience working within an environment committed to industry best practices, including software lifecycle management, change control, documentation, and security / regulatory compliance is required.
The successful candidate must be well-versed in security operations, cyber security tools, intrusion detection, and secured networks. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring information security risk controls are implemented and appropriately monitored throughout a systems lifecycle
Providing information security analysis and documentation in accordance with NIST 800-53 base controls and configurations
Developing and implement technical solutions to meet regulatory security policies, as well as best practices for servers and private cloud resources
Providing analysis and system security categorizations (FIPS 199, NIST 800-60 v1&2, NIST 800-122)
Collecting implementation details (NIST 800-53r4)
Determining what evidences are acceptable (NIST-53r4A)
Providing contingency planning and business impact analysis (NIST 800-34)
Providing system security engineering (NIST 800-160)
Understanding the role of FedRAMP and how it is related to and works with FISMA
Demonstrating experieince with the VA's RiskVision and eMASS is a very strong plus
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronical Engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required. A minimum of five (5) years of experience is required. Eight (8) years of additional, relevant experience may be substituted for education.
The candidate must have:
Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in security risk analysis and mitigation strategies is required
Experience with cyber security document management and familiarity with security and privacy rules associated with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST 800-53rev4
Candidate must have experince working with system owners to collect implementation details and evidence.
An audit background is a strong plus.
Proficiency with security requirements
IA expertise within a virtual infrastructure environment, to include monitoring, analysis, identification and troubleshooting issues around security
Strong understanding of TCP/IP in regards to local- and wide-area networking and be able to troubleshoot network issues that may arise in regards to security
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to learn other computer software and hardware
