SAIC Satellite Bus Systems Engineer in CHANTILLY, Virginia
SAIC is looking to hire a cleared Satellite Bus Systems Engineer in Chantilly, VA. The qualified Engineer will apply all disciplines required to provide systems engineering and technical assistance for satellite electrical power and thermal control systems within a Government Program Office. The Satellite Bus Systems Engineering professional possesses demonstrated working knowledge of satellite bus development, test and integration, launch and on- orbit operational activities.
Work closely with developer, Government leads, technology development offices, subject matter experts, and program managers.
Assist in requirements definition and in development of Statement of Work, technical specifications, Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation and support of source selections.
Apply program management knowledge to achieve technical and programmatic risk mitigations, develop corrective action plans, conduct Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) reviews and technical evaluations, cost and schedule evaluations, and proposal evaluations.
Provide analysis support of mechanical, electrical, thermal, environmental, acoustic, shock, propulsion, mass properties, structural loads, stress, deployment, alignment, reliability, and mission assurance, to verify satellite design will satisfy the system requirements.
Support the oversight of anomaly adjudication and resolution through fact finding, reviews, audits, and investigations of processing, testing, or operational failures.
Assist with Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP), Mission Assurance and environmental test and analysis activities.
Perform requirements analysis, requirements flow-down and traceability and evaluate suitability of verification, qualification, and acceptance methodology.
Perform system, sub- system and unit level design analysis, as necessary, to determine if the design is both adequate to meet program requirements and is cost effective.
Travel within the US 1-2 times per month for approximately 3 days per trip.
Required Education and Experience:
10+ years of engineering experience with satellite bus subsystems (e.g., power, thermal, etc.)
Bachelors of Science in electrical engineering, or related technical field
Experience working in a satellite system program office or satellite development facility
Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize competing requirement and tasks
Strong leadership and interpersonal communications skills

DESIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Master of Science in engineering, science or related technical field
Experience in multiple satellite programs and a variety of satellite busses
Thorough understanding of space systems design, integration, and test execution
Experience with small satellites and / or agile development of space systems
Experience across the entire life-cycle of a satellite program from early definition through design and into build, test, deployment and operation
Knowledge of Earned Value methodology
