What You Will Do:In this position you will support regulatory reporting as a part of the finance team. Hold a key role researching GAAP accounting standards and determining their implications to the legal entities we report on. Create and review audit reports, financial statements, and disclosure standards. You will have the opportunity to work closely with internal and external business partners within the finance group.

What You Will Learn: In this role, you will have exposure to Transamerica’s regulatory reporting team, while interacting with multi-functional groups within finance. You will also have the ability to support different, challenging projects related to financial reporting, while gaining more knowledge within GAAP, STAT, and IFRS.

What Success Looks Like:

Utilizes a thorough understanding of the business to proactively develop financial reports including SEC filings and other GAAP audit reports and seeks out potential areas of improvements (for example, workflow, automated processes) by documenting business processes, identifying controls and deficiencies, testing identified controls, and mapping internal financial statements to business processes.

Extracts financial data from various accounting and information systems to perform appropriate analyses.

Analyzes financial data and defines relevant information; interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial result.

Determines appropriate methodology to prepare information for use by others.

Interprets financial transactions and events for users and may offer recommendations to those making economic or business decisions.

Participates in monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.

Participates on project teams or leads project teams.

May participate in due diligence activities.

Works effectively with other departments/divisions to ensure business issues are resolved for the success of the company.

Offers leadership and direction to others. May supervise others.

Possesses and applies broad knowledge of concepts and principles or exhibits technical expertise in a specific area; works with minimal instruction or guidance with appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action or decisions; performs moderately difficult assignments with diverse scope and complexity, requiring a great deal of originality, creativity and problem solving with initiative and independent judgment required.

What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience, with degree

  • Prefer knowledge of accounting/financial area (for example, GAAP Reporting or IFRS or Stat).

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, ability to handle multiple projects, customer service approach, willingness to take on new projects.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Familiar with analyzing financial statements.

  • Work effectively individually and within a team; organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Self-starter with strong critical thinking skills to solve complex problems and articulate findings.

  • Highly detail oriented.
