SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in the leadership, coordination and supervision of the specified unit(s). Primary duties include functional responsibility of the daily operations. The supervisor has financial accountability and in collaboration with the Manager/Director has the authority to hire, evaluate and discipline. He/she will coordinate the activities of the nursing staff, and ancillary staff. Upholds standards set forth by the hospital and departments. The supervisor will plan, direct and evaluate total nursing care. Practices within the scope prescribed by the Nevada Nurse Practice Act. Population served by this position may include all age groups, but is primarily adults.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The specifications listed below are representative of the education and experience as well as knowledge, skill and ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Valid, Nevada RN license required.

  2. Current BLS certification.

  3. Minimum of two years of clinical nursing in area of practice in an acute care facility and one year at the Charge RN /Supervisor level.

  4. Demonstrates a knowledge base related to the following through previous evaluations and education documentation:

a. Collection and processing of data related to physiological and psychosocial needs of non-critical and critical status patients.

b. Identification of nursing diagnosis.

c. Development of a comprehensive plan for nursing care.

d. Implementation of a plan of nursing care.

e. Evaluation of care based on observable patient responses.

f. Comfortable working with computers, to complete patient charting, accessing and navigating
