Job Description


The Marketing Copywriter will handle copywriting as assigned for a high volume of marketing pieces, including emails, brochures, web banners, fliers, and trade-show booths. He or she will also review selected pieces at various stages of the collateral production process to help ensure 100% quality from start to finish.The role—which involves extensive collaboration with designers, business partners, and other writers—requires a fast-thinking Jack- or Jill-of-all-trades who can write quickly and well, isn’t afraid to transform at-times challenging scientific subject matter into compelling marketing copy, and can come up with clever headlines and messaging.

Essential Functions:

  • Exceptional creativity in terms of generating copy for campaigns and campaign elements (banners, emails, etc.)

  • Strong ability to write compelling copy and tell brand stories across myriad media, especially integrating storytelling across multiple digital media outlets

  • Ability to deliver concise content that adheres to our brand style guidelines; ensure correct trademark usage, grammar, punctuation, etc.; and uphold a consistent approach across all marketing materials

  • Ability to distill complex technical/scientific information—often provided in fragmented form—into cohesive, effective, value-driven messaging

  • Other related duties as required and/or assigned


  • Two–four years of copywriting experience, preferably in the life science or biotech field (or at an agency that primarily serves those fields)

  • BS in English, journalism, marketing, advertising, or related field

  • Excellent knowledge of English usage (grammar, spelling, punctuation, and audience sensitivity), as well as The Chicago Manual of Style

  • Effectively adapt copy structure, tone, and style to meet objectives, while consistently adhering to house style guidelines

  • Ability to work on multiple short- and long-term projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines

  • Excellent collaboration and verbal communication skills

  • High regard for quality

  • Work under minimal supervision with project teams or other internal customers to complete work

  • Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe InCopy, and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong relationship management, project management, and critical thinking skills

  • Preference for and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Understanding of marketing best practices
