JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse Float Pool II

LOCATION: Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Float Pool / Nursing Resources

WORK SCHEDULE: Rotating

JOB SUMMARY:

Registered nurse assesses, plans, organizes, performs and evaluates nursing activities to meet the needs of patients. Promote maximum adaptive responses of patient/family to achieve maximum outcomes. Exhibit compassionate caring during patient-nurse interactions. Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specified age range of their assigned nursing unit.

Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to Geisinger and unit specific Service Standards.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

For Registered Nurses with less than five (5) years work experience as an RN, a BSN degree is required or enrollment in a BSN program within 12 months of hire date with BSN degree completed within 4 years of hire date is required.

For Registered Nurses with more than 5 years of work experience as an RN in an acute/inpatient capacity, a BSN degree is not required.

For current Geisinger Registered Nurses who transfer into this position, BSN degree is preferred.

BLS certification required.

ACLS/PALS may be required within 1 year of employment (unit specific).

Duration of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties varies by individual

unit.

Requires completion of trauma nurse course within one year.

Minimum of one year of prior med/surg experience required.

Med Surg Certification (CMSRN) preferred.
