  • BA/BS, Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as computer science or statistics, or a business related major such as business analytics, economics, finance, marketing or operations, or comparable experience.

  • 5 or more years’ experience working in higher education administration, business analytics, business intelligence, business administration, and/or information technology.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience with Student Information Systems and statistical software such as R, SAS, SPSS, Stata preferred.

  • Salesforce experience preferred.

  • Experience using data for decision-making, reporting, and analysis.

The Data Analyst will work closely with a wide range of administrative staff to think proactively and strategically about how to use data to achieve organizational goals and objectives. The Data Analyst will develop management dashboards and reports that use statistical methods to draw conclusions from institutional data and facilitate data driven decision making. Data Analyst will analyze both external and internal quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision making on topics such as student services, enrollment management, curriculum, and program development.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Business Analytics Planning: Works with academic and administrative staff at all levels to understand the strategic direction of the organization and how that fits within the larger continuing education/higher education marketplace. Collaborates with staff to think proactively and strategically about how to use business analytics as a basis for decision making and measuring progress towards long range and short term organizational goals. Acts as a steward for promoting the use of business analytics to achieve competitive advantage.

  • Data Selection: Uses SQL and other in-house tools to extract data from sources such as our in-house student information system (Banner), custom Oracle tables, Salesforce objects, Business Objects, Excel spreadsheets and unstructured data. Identifies and recommends new technological tools and improved methods for data selection.

  • Data Quality Stewardship: Verifies data quality and cleans and transforms data as necessary. Works with MIS and other staff to address any data quality issues identified.

  • Data Analysis: Uses accepted statistical methods and/or statistical software such as R, SAS, SPSS or Stata to analyze and draw conclusions based on the data.

  • Data Preparation: Using formats that are meaningful to the customer, develops dashboards, reports, written management summaries elucidating conclusions, and makes oral presentations when appropriate.
