The Information Security Office has numerous departments under its purview, including the Security Operations Center (SOC), Information Security Operations, (InfoSec Ops), and the Information Assurance and Risk Management (IA) department. Some of the activities include managing boundary and internal cyber security technologies, compliance and procedural enforcement and development, and working with the SOC to ensure that the boundary defenses are robust. Also the Information Security Office is tasked with reviewing technologies to ensure that those technologies are inherently secure, and/or, designing and recommending secure solutions. Further, this office will manage and/or, assist with forensic reviews and conduct scans of Draper’s network, and recommend best practices to ensure remediation of identified vulnerabilities. This office further works towards maintaining a secure computing environment for all of Draper’s operational and business groups. As such, intern(s) will be expected to support all facets of the Information Security Office and the responsibilities will be wide and varied, however, specifically, the intern(s) will be expected to accompany staff relative to interviews as they relate to development of system security plans as well as review policy and procedure documents. Further, intern(s) will support/research new InfoSec initiatives.
Responsible for day to day support and maintenance of INFOSEC Office
Will assist with Identifying risks within enterprise infrastructure and applications; will work with teams and management
Conduct research with emerging technologies, best practices and lessons learned from any and all types incidents
Will assist and draft communications for diverse stakeholders
Assist other team members by acting as secondary support role of various security systems; VPN, web filtering, vulnerability scanning software
May be asked to assist with system troubleshooting, vendor coordination, OS patching and updating
Will observe and assist with device configuration management, receiving signature updates, and maintain operational readiness
Assist with Security log monitoring as necessary
Maintain and update documentation, including standard operating procedures
Provide support to other IT groups in resolving issues with the managed technologies
General Security Projects
Assist in evaluating potential security tools, devices, or methods
Assist in testing of new network security devices and changes to existing network security devices
Assist with developing architecture diagrams, requirement documentation, test plans, change requests, and communication to users
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task
Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision (i.e. self-motivated and willing to stretch to meet important deadlines)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate degree program for the Fall of 2019
Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance may be required
