About the opportunity We are looking to appoint a Manager to lead, grow and manage the Civil & Urban Infrastructure Section to achieve the objectives of the North Queensland (NQ) Performance Unit Business Plan.

As the Section Manager your primary focus will be people and operational management, while maintaining a strong focus on service delivery to clients by undertaking lead roles on major pursuits and projects that lead to the ongoing growth of the NQ Civil & Urban Infrastructure Section.

Based in Cairns, you will report to the Director of Operations – North Queensland.

About you

To be considered for this role, you will have strong leadership skills including a strategic focus to lead the growth of the North Queensland Transport practice.

In addition, you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering (mandatory)

  • RPEQ

  • Chartered Engineer

  • An excellent understanding of / familiarity with local and national standards and codes

  • Knowledge of Safety in Design concepts

  • Project management knowledge and skill set

  • Experience in developing new clients, tender submissions

  • Demonstrated experience in managing a large and diverse team

  • Ability to articulate a clear direction

  • Previous operations management experience including profitability, scope growth, commercial management, corporate compliance and safety/risk management

  • Previous consulting experience is highly desirable
