BMO Financial Group Trust & Investment Services Associate in Burnaby, British Columbia


Consistently provide high quality sales and fulfillment support to a group of Estate & Trust clients with the objective of exceeding customer expectations. Accountable for executing on all aspects of Estate & Trust administration. Recognizes opportunities for promoting entire Private Bank to the clients, and discusses potential referrals/new business opportunities with the Relationship Manager.

A. Client & Relationship Management

  • Provide a superior level of courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and professional service to all existing and prospective clients relating to wealth services consistent with delivery of the desired client experience

  • Take ownership of client inquiries/concerns/complaints ensuring timely resolution

  • Develop a rapport and instill confidence with the client in order to develop credibility as a representative of the Private Bank.

  • Assists in preparing new business proposals or presentations to clients/prospects based upon their needs, BPB products & services, competitive pricing and committed service capabilities

  • Assist Wealth Services professionals in preparing for client meetings and documentation preparation

  • Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of integrated services and offerings, with a focus on Trust and Estate products and procedures

  • Perform required sales & service support activities as required to meet client needs and maintain overall service levels

B. Administrative/Sales Support

  • Ensure the timely and accurate set up & maintenance of Trust & Estate accounts ensuring all compliance requirements are met within acceptable time frames

  • Monitors daily activity reports (such as transaction history, cash balances, overdrafts and transactions in a batch)

  • Obtains appropriate valuations as required for all assets – both financial and non-financial and ensures the safety of the assets.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of trade order management activities and miscellaneous cash transactions

  • Provides administrative support to Wealth Services professionals (incl. preparation of Asset & Liability Statements, asset & account reconciliation, compliance, trade activity, posting, collect fees, and other related functions/duties)

  • Identify opportunities to increase profitability, create capacity and reduce expenses

  • Recognize potential new business opportunities and refer/discuss them with the Relationship Manager (both within BPB and BMO as a whole)

  • Identify, diarize and monitor accounts for overdrafts and to meet compliance requirements

  • Provide after sales support and handle exceptions tactfully, accurately and efficiency in accordance with Bank policy

C. Team Participation

  • Participate in internal projects and initiatives of varying scope and responsibility

  • Participate in team meetings and conference calls as applicable

  • Take initiative, be accountable, and work in a team-orientated environment

  • Cross trains with other individuals within support team to ensure coverage and contingency is maintained at all times. Shares knowledge with team members.

D. Risk Management

  • Ensure proper adherence to all aspects of First Principles Our Code of Conduct and Ethics

  • Follow security and safeguarding procedures and apply appropriate due diligence for the prevention of loss due to fraud, counterfeiting money laundering or defalcation in accordance with Bank policy

  • Protect the Bank’s assets by adhering to all banking, investment and lending regulations (as appropriate), Policies and Procedures, legal and ethical requirements, process requirements, bank guidelines and established risk guidelines

  • Participate in audits and compliance reviews as assigned

  • Accountable for monitoring and controlling the integrity of account documentation

  • Identify and escalate all irregularities and discrepancies to management



  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent industry experience

  • Advanced knowledge of Estate and Trust products and services

  • Working knowledge of BMO BPB Platinum Banking & Investment Management products and services

  • Trust industry experience (1-4 years)

  • Successful completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC)

  • Enrolled in, or has completed a Financial Planning or Personal Trust accreditation program through ICB or equivalent

  • Potential for enrollment in the Professional Development Program (PDP) for Trust
