This job was posted by : For more information, please see: JOB DESCRIPTION:The Systems Engineer supports enterprise class, mission-critical systems and platforms. Responsibilities include capacity monitoring and planning, system troubleshooting, hardware installations and repair, software and operating system installs/upgrades, security design/strategy, system architecture design, and automation/scripting of system tasks. The Systems Engineer also ensures efficient and reliable system operation, provides technical support to IS application teams, monitors emerging technology developments, and identifies opportunities and issues for improvement. Staff must provide support coverage 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Shift coverage and on-call coverage may be required.EDUCATION:Bachelors degree or formal technical training or equivalent experience.RHEL 7 certifications desired.EXPERIENCE:5 -7 or more years experience.RESPONSIBILITIES:- Daily reactive support for Linux and UNIX systems. Perform triage, initial troubleshooting, and escalation- Develop and maintain procedures & policies around all aspects of server support & implementation, including evaluation of existing practices, documentation, and training- Perform Operating System installations and maintenance- Assist vendors with implementation of new servers- Provide 2nd level support to application support teams managing server-based applications- Responsible for installation, configuration and updates of systems related software, firmware, operating systems patches and upgrades- Provide on-going assistance to other service providers with new implementations and support issues- Provide support for hospital initiatives & programsESSENTIAL SKILLS:- Knowledge of RHEL (RHEL 7)- Knowledge of Linux/UNIX systems administration- Knowledge of server concepts & architectures- Experience with EMC Storage- Excellent verbal communication- Builds positive working relationships and works collaboratively with other team membersDESIRED SKILLS:-Experience with Ansible Automation-Experience with Splunk-Experience in the healthcare industry-Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record-Experience with VMware-Experience with Cisco UCS-Experience with NetApp Storage-Experience with AIX
