This is a temporary position of undetermined length. IIS’s Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering Organization is currently seeking a Drafter for its Construction Engineering Group. This individual will provide drafting expertise for the design of multiple Product deployments and facility related engineering drawings. This team of engineering and systems installation professionals has been tasked with deploying systems around the world. The design team is comprised of civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical licensed professional engineers specializing in facility design within a radar, air traffic control, and telecommunications infrastructure environment. This group is tasked with site layout and design, facility design, systems transition, integration planning, construction management, systems installation, integration, system optimization, testing, system maintenance, and logistics support. The customer sites for these projects are typically government sites with agencies such as DoD, FAA, TSA or Homeland Security. This role is initially targeted to support designs of TSA related checkpoint screening products deployed in Airports across the country. Floor Plans, layouts, equipment details as well as topology diagrams are likely product outputs. As a Drafter, you will work with engineers to produce facility design drawings and as-built drawings, which will include primarily civil design but also electrical and mechanical facilities drawing knowledge. You should be familiar with AutoCAD (including Land Development Desktop, Architectural Desktop, Civil 3D and Building Systems), and MS Office Suite. You will be responsible for technical coordination with engineers. You must be able to work within established standards. You should be able to work effectively in a team setting. As a Drafter engineer, you will be expected to work with technical direction from existing team members and provide support to project engineers in deriving drafting solutions. Required Skills: As a Drafter with this group, you must have an Associates degree in CAD Technology or at least 10 years experience in drafting. Your experience should include the development of drawings packages to permit the detailed layout and construction of complex designs. You should have a good understanding of basic drafting standards. You should have the ability to work effectively in a multi-task environment, and have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Occasional travel is possible to various construction sites at domestic or international locations. Desired Skills: Prior radar site design experience and/or prior federal government contract experience is desired. Experience with GIS, Solidworks, Frameworks 3D, Microstation and Arcview is a plus.
