The Brookdale Hospital & Medical Center TECHNOLOGIST, X-RAY in Brooklyn, New York
Under general supervision, the X-Ray Technician (Radiological Technologist) assures that all aspects of work involving the Radiology Department are done as requested. This includes appointments, film files, performing emergency examinations as requested and preparing films on viewer for radiologist. Making judgement on priority examinations requested, etc. Performs related duties as required.
Performs radiographic examinations that include the extremities, the body and contrast studies within and outside the x-ray department.
Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness and types of test ordered.
Checks equipment and supplies regularly.
Transports patients to and from radiographic rooms and on and off x-ray tables.
Develops and loads cassettes and films as needed.
Adheres to all guidelines enumerated for the general radiologic technologist.
Knowledge of and competence with post processing of and competence with post processing transfer to disk, website and the accessing of other printers on the network when necessary, responsibility to report all equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years experience in General Radiology. 1-2 years experience in another modality (CT, MRI or Vascular)
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to work in surroundings with degree of dust, noise, etc. without undue discomfort
Ability to hear, talk, walk, stand, bend and stretch
Ability to read, write and interpret documents
Ability to sit for long periods of time at desk to perform job functions
Ability to stand for long periods of time at required patient bedside and/or procedural areas
Ability to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers
May be exposed to mechanical/electrical/radiant/explosive/burn and chemical hazards
May be required to operate and clean equipment
Must be trained in and knowledgeable of all Kingsbrook/Rutland policies and procedures pertaining to hazardous waste and hazardous materials and maintain qualifications applicable to assigned work
Other: Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding
- NYS license and ability to meet requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) Advanced Certification or eligibility in MRI, CT, or Vascular (specials)
- Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but potential for exposure.
