Job Path Direct Support Professional - Artistic Mentor in Brooklyn, New York

We work one-on-one with people using a true person centered approach in order to foster relationships between people and their communities.
We are seeking a creative, flexible and easy- going artist to provide one-on-one support for a man who lives in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He is looking for an artist who can assist him in developing his artistic skills by introducing him to a variety of mediums and methods. He specializes in animated characters having a great interest in The Muppets.
The best candidate would have a gentle energy and be able to introduce alternative artistic modalities, while imaginatively integrating these new skills with his subject of interest.
The shift would be on Saturdays for 3 hours.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:
Supporting him in his artistic endeavors
Proposing different methods and materials to deepen his craft
Help individual make artistic connections within his community
Assist him to prepare for the activity and then debrief afterwards
Assisting him by helping him to meet new people and create new friendships within the art world
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. We are seeking candidates who enjoy active, "people-oriented" work and are sensitive to the needs and preferences of people with disabilities.
Salary: $18.00/hr, non-exempt
