The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer with a solid technical background to join us in Brno, Czech Republic. In this role, you will work on clustering and high availability offerings. Theoffering provides high availability service through the integration of several open source projects like. You will be an essential part of a small development team working on software used by top corporate, educational, and governmental organizations across the world to support mission-critical applications. You'll primarily focus on systems and low-level application programming, as well as automated testing. As a Software Engineer, you will also work on frameworks for providing service availability within the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) High Availability offering.
Primary job responsibilities
Develop and maintain Pacemaker and other core high availability components
Write tests, help manage releases, and build packages
Triage, debug, and fix customer and community reported issues and bugs
Work with other product teams, including Cloud Engineering, to resolve high availability issues in other offerings and areas at Red Hat
Participate in external community and mailing lists, providing assistance and identifying and resolving defects
Opportunity to work with the Engineering and Product Management teams on new features for the next generation of clustering and high availability offerings
Basic understanding of C
Linux or UNIX software development experience
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work as part of a distributed team
The following are considered a plus:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience with revision control systems, preferably Git
Knowledge of the Python and Bash programming languages
Understanding of the open source development model
Experience with open source development, specifically with contributions to one or more upstream projects
Experience with existing high availability offerings and components (Linux-based or otherwise) and high availability concepts
Knowledge of test-driven development or unit testing frameworks and automated testing methodologies
