SSM Health Ultrasound Technologist in Bridgeton, Missouri

Role Purpose:

Under general supervision and direction of the Ultrasound Supervisor/Lead, is responsible for the coordination and performance of ultrasound procedures as ordered by the physician.. Provides assistance to the Radiologist/physicians as requested with the technical factors involved in such ordered procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides Exceptional Safety by obtaining accurate histories and diagnosis; following and complying with all network, hospital and department policies, protocols, and regulatory agency requirements.

  • Creates Exceptional Clinical/service outcomes by providing quality diagnostic images of requested anatomy with in specified timeframes through the use of informatics tools.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of approved AMA school for ultrasound education.

  • ARDMS Registered or Registry Eligible. If registry eligible only, must receive registration within one year of hire date.

  • Must have current CPR certificate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience

  • ARRT preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Employees in this position are, or can be, required to possess the following physical capabilities:

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.

  • Stooping, kneeling and/or crouching daily

  • Standing or walking more than 6 hours a day

  • Running to respond to patient emergencies

  • Reaching, grasping, fingering, and/or feeling more than 6 hours a day

  • Visual acuity in order to correctly distinguish skin tone variations, evidence of IV infiltration, infection; able to read telemetry, blood pressure gauges, etc.

  • Audio acuity in order to correctly distinguish various body sounds (i.e., respirations, heart tones, bowel sounds).

  • Audio acuity to discern sounds made by various types of machinery or equipment that would indicate dangerous or improper operation
